SIRIUS Satellite Radio Site Design

Role: Design, Design Direction
Industry: Music, Entertainment

My primary vision for the site was an entertainment/ information / content hub promoting the programming. This served two purposes: (1) Keep current subscribers abreast of what's playing throughout the service; (2) Attract new customers, like the way a cable TV company might use MTV, ESPN, and shows like Mad Men. In addition, the site would offer information about equipment and how the service works.

I was the sole/lead designer on this project, and the Vice-President of Marketing selected this design over those submitted by two other design contractors. An outside agency developed the branding ("corporate agendas_off") and colour palette (turquoise, orange, white), and after familiarizing myself with its marketing direction, I took it from there.

This was my favorite project for SIRIUS, as I find site design mentally stimulating. As the designer, one must consider the user experience, functionality, organization of information, branding, marketing, typography, graphics and colour, all at the same time.
